Article I. NAME

The name of this student organization shall be The Agricultural Systems Management Club.

 

Article II. PURPOSES AND OBJECTIVES

            Section 1. Purpose

            The objectives of the Agricultural Systems Management Club are

(a) To acquaint present and potential members with opportunities in the agricultural engineering field;                

(b) To acquaint industry and the general public with agricultural mechanization and agricultural engineering;

(c) To develop leadership potential and create a spirit of fellowship among members;

(d) To foster the development of professional attitudes and to encourage recognition of the need for continued professional and intellectual improvement;

(e) To promote the interest of students in agriculture engineering related

fields as these interests relate to professional advancement and to the American Society of Agricultural Engineers.

            Section 2. Objectives

These bylaws, and any Rules adopted in connection therewith, shall conform to the rules, regulations, and policies of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers pertaining to its Affiliate Student Branch.

 

Article III. MEMBERSHIP

            Section 1. Membership

            Membership in the Agricultural Systems Management Club may consist of three types - Honorary Members, Members, and Associate Members.

            Section 2. Honorary Members

           Honorary members shall be local ASAE members who the Student Branch desires to honor with such membership.

           Section 3. Member

           Members shall be undergraduate or graduate students enrolled in agricultural engineering related curricula as shown by the roles of Texas A&M University.

            Section 4. Associate Members

            Associate members shall be students of non-agricultural engineering related curriculum who evidence an interest in the general field of agricultural engineering and desire to affiliate
            with the Agricultural Systems Management Club.

            Section 5.

  Agricultural Systems Management Club Members, in good standing with the Agricultural Systems Management Club, are eligible to become Student Mechanized Members of the ASAE as provided for in the Bylaws of the Society.

            Section 6.

  Any member of the Agricultural Systems Management Club who has violated these bylaws, or who is guilty of conduct unbecoming of a member, may be expelled by a two-thirds vote of the members of the Student Branch present and voting, at a regular or special business meeting, after he has been given an opportunity to be heard in his own defense, either orally or in writing.

 

Article IV. OFFICERS

            Section 1.

            The officers of this organization must meet the following requirements:

                a)        Have a minimum grade point ratio (GPR) as stated below and meet that minimum GPR in the semester immediately prior to the election/appointment, the semester of
                         election/appointment, and semesters during the term of office.

  1.        For undergraduate students, the minimum GPR is 2.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least six hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration.  In one limited circumstance, summer semester hours may be applied to this provision.  In order for summer coursework to qualify toward a grade point ratio prior to election/appointment, at least six credit hours must have been taken during the course of either the full or two summer session(s).

                                  2.        For graduate level students the minimum GPR is a 3.00.  In order for   this provision to be met, at least four hours (half-time credits) must have been taken fro
                                 the semester under consideration.  In one limited circumstance, summer semester hours may be applied to this provision.  In order for summer coursework to qualify
                                 toward a grade point ratio prior to election/appointment, at least four credit hours must have been taken during the course of either the full or two summer session(s)
                                 unless fewer credits are required as they complete the final stages of thief degree.

                 b)       Be in good standing with the university and enrolled:

                                  1.        at least half time (six or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credits are required to graduate in the spring and fall semesters) during the
                                 term of office, and

                                  2.        at least half time (four or more credits), if a graduate level student (unless fewer credits are required in the final stages of their degree as defined by the
                                 Continuous Registration Requirement) during their term of office.

                  c)        Be ineligible to hold office should the student fail to maintain the requirements as prescribed in (a) and (b).

            Section 2.

          Officers of the Agricultural Systems Management Club shall be President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, senior faculty Advisor, junior faculty advisor, and such
          other officers as may be deemed necessary by the Executive Committee. Officers shall be elected at the first meeting in April.

            Section 3. President

          The President shall preside at all meetings when present. He shall appoint committees which are not otherwise provided for in the rules, or which may be authorized by vote of the
           Student Branch at any business meeting. He shall assume active leadership of the Student Branch and perform other customary duties of the office

            Section 4. Vice-President

          The Vice-President shall preside in the absence of the president, and assist him in his official duties. 

            Section 5. Treasurer

           The Treasurer shall collect and receive all dues, fees, and other monies due the Student Branch. He shall properly care for such monies and, upon proper authorization, disperse
           them to meet obligations of the Student Branch. He shall keep suitable financial records and accounts of all such monies, and such records shall be subject to the rules of the Texas
           A&M Agricultural Systems Management Club.

            Section 6. Secretary

            The Secretary shall perform the customary duties of that office, including the handling of correspondence between the Student Branch and the officers and committees of the parent
             Society.

Section 7.  Historian

The Historian shall perform all customary duties of that office, including keeping records of the actions of the club, keeping photos, and organizing the drafting of the annual Equipment Manufacturer’s Institute (EMI) report due each year in April.

            Section 8. Faculty Advisors

            The faculty advisors shall be the official representatives between the Student Branch and the supervising department(s). They shall counsel with officers, members and committees
             of the Student Branch. They shall be members, associate member, or affiliate of the ASAE in good standing.

            Section 8.

            All officers of the Agricultural Systems management Club, except the faculty advisors, shall be of the grade of Member (Article III, Section 3). A candidate for President must be
             one whose term of office would occur in his junior or senior year. Candidates for Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer shall have attained at least a sophomore standing.

            Section 9.

           The officers provided for in Section 1 above shall constitute the Executive Committee of the Student Branch, two-thirds of who shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of any
            business not requiring action by the entire Agricultural Systems Management Club at a regular or special meeting.

            Section 10.

           Any officer, for conduct unbecoming his office, may be removed by a majority of the members of the Agricultural Systems Management Club present and voting at a regular or
           special meeting, but only after specific charges have been filed and investigated by the Executive committee.

           

Article V. MEETINGS

          Section 1.

          The Agricultural Systems Management Club shall hold regular meetings once per month during the school year, as adopted by the Executive Committee, for conducting business and
           presentation of professional and other suitable programs. These meetings shall be held on the third Tuesday of the month.

          Section 2.

          The Executive Committee may postpone regular meetings or call special meetings when, in its judgment, such action is in the best interest of the Agricultural Systems Management
          Club.

 

Article VI. REPORTS

           Section 1.

         The Agricultural Systems Management Club shall submit, by June first of each year, a brief report covering membership, attendance, officers, and financial status to the Secretary of
         the ASAE in the form required by his office

 

Article VII. AMENDMENTS

          Section 1.

          These Bylaws shall become effective on adoption by a two-thirds vote of the members present at any regular or special meeting called for that purpose.

          Section 2.

          These Bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the members present at a regular meeting which follows one meeting advance notice of the proposed amendments to the
          members of the Agricultural Systems Management Club. Proposed amendments must be cleared by a representative of the staff of the parent Society to be sure they are not in
          conflict with the Constitution and

          Bylaws of the national organization.

 

Article VIII. FINANCES

           All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and dispersed through a bank account established for this organization at the MSC Student Organization Finance Center
           and /or the Fiscal Office.  All funds must be deposited with in 24 hours after collection. The advisor to this organization must approve and sign each expenditure before payment.
